I have a insatiable taste for music that has been recorded in lo-fidelity… music that has been compressed to the point of obfuscation, muddying the purity and clarity with which so much sound is communicated. When you compress the expanses of a grand idea, like a piece of music, into a tiny, flawed piece of fuzz, you are communicating directly to our experience of humanity on the scale of the Universe.

Lo-fidelity is the undertaking of a groundbreaking collective of renegades, each of whom have have found an audience in the he(art)s of hotfreaks everywhere. Armed with a 4-track cassette recorder and a handful of emotionally-charged seam-busting bizzarities, many artists have created homegrown classics. Guided by Voices is one of the purveyors of this endeavor. And Bee Thousand is their epic first breakthrough.

This is hooky garage pop rock at its best and it will ensnare you, endear you, and rescue you from your feelings of self-doubt.

Bee Thousand makes sense to those who don’t make sense to others

Listen to this record over and over. It bears strange fruit.
